Correctional officer's killer transferred from Md. prison system

By The Associated Press ()

Maryland’s prison agency says an inmate convicted of killing a correctional officer during an escape from a Hagerstown hospital has been sent to the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan.

Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services spokesman Rick Binetti says 22-year-old Brandon Morris was among about 40 inmates who were transferred from the Supermax prison in Baltimore on Thursday under an interstate compact.

Morris was sentenced in January to life without parole for shooting Officer Jeffery Wroten with Wroten’s gun during an escape from Washington County Hospital in January 2006.

Binetti says that because Morris killed a correctional officer, it was best to move him out of the Maryland prison system, mostly for his own safety.

Isnt Leavenworth a medium now?

Why are they sending a cop killer there instead of Hazelton, Coleman or Terre Haute

This guy should easily be a maximum/high inmate. He should get points for murder and the escape attempt. He should be pegged on the scale.

For those of you who don't know, Morris inserted a needle into his own liver to go to the hospital. He then shot Ofc. Wroten, fled, was captured in Penn. During his trial he tried to escape from the courtroom. This POS has no respect for anyone ar anything. Those of you at Leavenworth watch yourselves around him.

Maybe. I haven't heard. But I know Bob will be on to him if he shows up at Heavenworth.

Maybe the silly thug will try the ol' needle-in-the-liver trick again. In Heavenworth he'll likely bleed out long before he gets a chance to go to the hospital.
