Tuscon, Beumont
Does anyone have any advice on how to look good and get to the top of these facilities.
1. USA Jobs resume, do you have to have every job you ever had on there? 2. What things to say to make your CO experience stand out? (resume) 3. How should you phrase your questions when you talk to Employee services? Any other advice would be helpful. Little background on me: 6 months experience in Adult County corrections, 4 years Navy, 1 year active army, currently in the National Guard. I am a Detention officer at a Juvenile Detention Facility in Texas, I have been there since June of last year. I have 2 police academy certificates, 2 year degree, over 40 credit hours in Law Enforcement/Corrections. As well as a host of other trainings that I have gotten along the way.

Re: Tuscon, Beumont
Speaking for Beaumont only, you're over qualified. It will just be a matter of time before they call.
1) I thought it asked for a specific time period. (Last 5, 7 or 10 years. If not, then yes, list them all) 2) Just simply list your experience. No need to make something stand out. 3) Which questions? Background or interview? On background just tell the truth. On interview, just answer with common sense. Again, you're over qualified in comparison to recent new hires. So, just tell the truth, make sure your finances are in order and play the waiting game. Good luck!

You will have an easier time at Tucson. There is a lot less action than the other USP's. If you want to "rock n' roll", transfer once you get some time in the Bureau.

Re: Tuscon, Beumont
Tucson called me yesterday wanting to know if I wanted to set up an interview in Texas, I said yes of course, so now I am waiting on an interview date.
I got all my debts paid off with my tax return so I should be good to go. |

Re: Tuscon, Beumont
There is really no way to blow the interview unless you just don't have any common sense. My advice is to hold out for the one you want. I know if your like me its gonna be whoever hires me first, but I would really encourage you to hold out for the one that you want. I work at USP Beaumont, obviously from my screen name and I don't have anything negative to say. There are alot of good people that work at FCC Beaumont. Administrations come and go so you need to base your decision on what is best for you. I hope this helps you and feel free to contact me should you have any more specific questions.

Re: Tuscon, Beumont
Yes BMT is my first choice, because I will be separated from my wife for a year due to her in the army. And BMT is only 5 hours from fort hood so I could go home once a month or so.
But I really like arizona the place is nice and warm. Dont know much about Tucson though. |

Re: Tuscon, Beumont
For an update with me, its a bit fusterating.
Beaumont is a no go for now, because I could not get some documentation in on time. So I delayed my OF-5 date by a month which will toss me back in the National system in March sometime. Which kinda angers me because I could be applying with Texarkanna or somewhere but they hold my name until they close out the list. With the VRA Tucson announcement, is a bit frustrating also. I got all the paperwork and bills paid off and ect ect.. however the Employee services lady is having a hard time getting me and interview somewhere in texas. So that is my current status bit of a stand still atm. Hope it changes soon. |
