new to forums

after much technical difficulties (thanks cory) I'm able to post. I've been visiting the site for a few weeks now, alot of very good info and content here, and am very anxiuos to join in.

A little about myself i suppose, I currently work in WV...North central regional Jail. Its like a county lock-up, but we serve 9 counties in northern WV. the jail was built for 400ish inmates and we usually float around 500 or so, 623 was our max pop a couple years back. I've worked in corrections now for about 16 months, and i think i've truely found a job i like and that suits me. Prior to NCRJ i was in the Air Force for 12.5 years and worked for Catipillar for a short while as a generator tech. But i really dont like fixing things any more and "controlling" inmates is alot more fun.

I've applied at Glenville in WV, and contemplating applying at hazelton also. An old friend of mine from High School (the only one i kept in contact with) works at mansfield in Ohio and says i should go there. Any advice from the old hands?

Ill be around the forums quite a bit, i usually get to be a heavy poster, what with all my opinions about everything.

I would consider Mansfield if I were you. I live up the road a few miles near Cleveland but that area seems pretty nice with an affordable cost of living to boot. Of course the old OSR was shut down shortly before Shawshank was shot in 93. Its something to see. I dont know about the pay though? I'm certainly no recruiter but why not consider the BOP? I know it was twice the pay and half the work from the state joint I worked in Kansas.

You should see Heavenworth Captain Hadley. It's half the work of El Reno.

Feet up, knuckle down...
