New Okie
Hello to all. I am 26 years old and I have spent the past 5 years serving in the United States Coast Guard. I have experience taking migrants into custody, standing security watch over them, and repating them back to Cuba and Haiti respectively. I have my Associates of Applied Sciences in Criminal Justice. I will be seperating from the Coast Guard in March 2008 but I have enough leave that my last acual day is December 14, 2007
 . I have completed my resume and will begin applying at several Correctional Facilities throughout Oklahoma, most notably James Crabtree Medium, Bill Johnsons minn, and Enid's Community Corrections Center. I also plan on applying at Diamond Back which is a Private Prison. I am looking forward to a new and exciting career in Corrections. One thing that I will be looking forward to is hopefully being on the CERT team.Thanks, |

Welcome aboard. I advise against Diamondback, or any of those CCA joints in Oklahoma. Diamondback, especially, has had a lot of problems. Plus they will starve you to death. In your neck of the woods I recommend Crabtree, hands down. It's a good institution and Oklahoma DOC doesn't pay too bad for the location.

Don't waste your time with a private prison.
With your Coast Guard experience and Associates degree, virtually any prison in the US should be glad to have you. |

No it isn't. They bust their lieutenants down to sergeants and transfer them out merely for shooting deer & rabbits out on the perimeter.

Thanks for all of the advice. I will only accept the Diamond Back Job as a last resort as they don't have as good of benefits as the State...also what do you mean by they will starve you to death...do you mean they don't give raises or what?
