NC corrections officer

I live near hickory nc ive went to apply for a corrections officer i passed my test and my video test, i just have to get hired pass a psych test then goto state bootcamp, i had a job interivew in morganton, but someone else got the job, my question is its been a few weeks and im not hearing anything from other prisons i called one up in taylorsville and talked to a sgt sturgill he said he would put a good word in for me, but that was also a few weeks ago i havent heard anything is it a long process, i would really like to get to training and start my career, anyone else from nc or have had a similar experience, i cant reapply for another year, but im not hearing anything anyone know what i should do, i got a paper saying to not call the prisons i only called that one under advice from another officer, that knew that sgt, thanks to all who take the time to read this.

First, don't get discouraged. It takes awhile to get a call back. From the time I sent in my apps and resumes until I actually got hired, it took a total of 4 months. It can be even longer to get hired by a police agency. For any kind of work in law enforcement/corrections, the whole process from application to being hired takes time. You'll get confirmation one way or another.

Also, look into what agencies are available, such as the DOC, DJJ, County Sheriff's Office *local jail*, etc.....

Also, not sure where Hickory is, but if it's close to the Virginia boarder, check into the Virginia DOC as well.

Keep your options open and have patience. You'll get the call.

Like ark said ,dont get discouraged and hang in there ,your time will come and you will get on the job.As for calling and talking to this sgt. he could have told you he would put in a good word for you but he does not no you from a hole in the wall so dont get your hopes up with him.Just relax and everything should fall in place.
