Bryant police say a woman who formerly worked at the state's youth detention center near Alexander has been arrested on a charge accusing her of having sex with an 18-year-old inmate.

Police say the male inmate told them he had sex with Krista Moser, 39, after he admitted she gave him a cellular phone.

"This is a very serious crime. These inmates are out there being rehabilitated," Bryant Sgt. Harold Edmonson said. "Then you throw something like this on top of it ... it causes more issues with the inmates."

State officials say Moser was fired from her position several weeks ago before her arrest.

Moser faces a third-degree sexual assault charge and will appear in court Thursday.
