Priest at Fort Worth facility gets 4 years in sex-abuse case

FORT WORTH -- A Catholic priest who had sex with two inmates at Federal Medical Center Carswell is headed to a prison cell of his own.

Vincent Inametti, 48, who worked as a chaplain at Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Terry Means on Monday morning to 48 months in federal prison. He was taken into custody at the end of the sentencing.

According to documents filed in the case, Inametti worked as a Catholic chaplain at FMC Carswell from August 13, 2000, to September 26, 2007. He is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was ordained in his native country, Nigeria.

He pleaded guilty in November to two counts of sex abuse of a ward.

In sentencing, Means was more blunt.

"This is rape and this is sodomy," he said.

Inametti’s lack of a criminal history suggested that he might get a sentence between 10 and 16 months. In far exceeding that, Means said Inametti had violated a two-fold trust: as an employee of the federal prison and as a priest.

"For this he will face a higher authority than this one," Means said.

A) If you date an inmate, he or she will tell on you.
B) If you date two inmates at the same time, they will tell on you.
C) If you date multiple inmates and staff members, someone will tell on you.
D) If the SIS/OIG finds out, they will offer the inmate/inmate's family a deal to tell on you.
E) Electronic recording devices (audio/video) will tell on you.
F) Photos taken with the inmates/inmate's family will turn up later to tell on you.
G) Letters you wrote the inmate will tell on you.
H) Your own DNA or lack there of, may tell on you.
I) Getting caught in the act with an inmate by another staff member, who tells on you.
J) If the inmate was tranfered to you facility for "other" reasons (trouble with a staff member), they will tell on you.

I'll bet she wasn't expecting that!

Not that he didn't deserve what he got, but this has never been published in the history of all staff walked out at Carswell.
