It is crazy, and I am sure TopCat can verify this, the average death row stay is about 12 years in Florida because the lights are turned out. Even crazier, they say it is cheaper to house them for the 12 years than to execute them.....I don't get that, 0.18 cents for a .223 round vs whatever it costs per day, it don't add up.

To me the bottom line is...WTF took so long?!?! Not just about this POS but all of them! Our brother, Scott Williams (EOW 04-07-97) still hasn't been able to rest in peace! THAT POS is still living, eating, breathing on our dime! Even with video tape, witnesses he still hasn't been charged with the murder of this hero, husband, father and son! Even Timothy McVeigh was put to death without the kind of evidence they have on Roy Green!

How many of you have read the book The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a small town, by John Grisham? This is his first work on NON-Fiction. It follows the case of Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz, who spent 14 years on Oklahoma's death row for a rape/murder, that was actually committed by the person that pointed police to Williamson, the police tied Fritz in to the case with guilt by association. The DA would not even set them free after DNA testing proved that the semen was not a match to either man, he wanted their DNA of their hair tested against those found at the crime scene. The man that gave up Williamson happened to be incarcerated in Oklahoma at the time the DNA tests were done. Innocence Project got both Williamson and Fritz released.

"He was arrested for this-or-that, so that makes him a POS, so give him the needle!" is about the lamest apologetic I've ever heard for the death penalty.

Again: I believe death is absolutely justified as a penalty for certain crimes, but I do not trust our legal system to prove beyond any doubt that the accused committed the crime in question.

I've read that book, and another book about the Fritz and Williamson case.

I stand amazed that our fellow officers can condemn false accusations about our brothers, many of which are prosecuted despite the charges being obviously false, yet assume anyone who is convicted in our "justice" system must be guilty.

News flash: if you've ever taken photos of your kids in the bathtub, you're a child pornographer. Might as well self-surrender at Seagoville, just to save the government the cost of a trial. If you've ever accidentally carried your cell phone inside, you're obviously a smuggler: resign now, and they might go easy on you.

We've all seen fellow employees hounded relentlessly over false charges. When the accused isn't a fellow employee, should we assume the charges are any more true?

I think not.

Add to all of that things like Oklahoma Cities "Black Widow" Forensic Scientist, and many other states that have had issues with their Forensic labs, up to and including the FBI.
