Post Open Forum

Ok here's a question that I'm posting to this forum & a few others: would you be interested in participating in a NEUTRAL forum where BOTH LEOs and civilians could discuss and debate various topics that effect both groups? (notice I did not say sides, since if you are against violence and crime you are on the same side)

I would like to get your inputs on this, and before we start all the immature bashing and b*tching if you wouldn't be interested a simple no will suffice, I'm not trying to start a debate mereley gather information.

Thanks for your time.

We already have a public section of the forum. It's called "Public Discussions."

Re: Open Forum

No matter how many movies a civilian watches he/she will never know what really goes on in a correctional facility.

We have lived it and deal with it on a daily basis. I enjoy the brotherhood and discussion we have here.

Besides who else would understand this..."The screw came up on us as we were shankin the homie in his house." And, to the civilians out there, I ain't talking home repair.

Re: Open Forum

I like this place because we can discuss with people that understand our language and not have to translate what we're talking about. I agree that we already have certain sections (i.e. public forums) that do just what you are suggesting. Please correct me if you are talking about something else.

Clarification

First off let me say to everyone who has responded thank you. This is my first test case to see if anyone would be willing to participate in a forum like this, and the all the answers that I receive will help me to determine if it will be worth the time and effort to set something like this up.

Now for the clarification, what I am basically talking about is starting a forum where nobody has home field advantage. Not a civilian site that's bashing LEOs and not a LEO site that's bashing civilians, but a neutral site where both could exchange ideas and participate in civil discussions.

Basically what I've noticed in the civilian and LEO forums that I've joined is that even though both offer so called "open forum" areas, that anytime one or the other enters and tries to shed some light on the way the opposite side see things the hosting party gangs up on the "outsider" and proclaims that they just don't understand and ultimately "suggests" they take their opinion elsewhere.

Now in my opinion this gets us no where since it simply breeds more animosity and mistrust between the two groups. Which is why I believe that creating a neutral place that is neither overly civilian nor LEO friendly would allow a more open, civil, and hopefully productive discussion to take place.

And since you guys seem to be the most intelligent of the groups that I have participated in I am posing this question for your input to see if at this time it would be worth the time and effort to start this new meeting place.

Again I thank you for your time. Please feel free to respond and I will attempt to answer either in a post or PM if preferred.

Thanks again.

This happens here to from time to time. For example I just got through such a rant, and I do not work in corrections. I'm a chef. However to be fair, in every post and thread I've read, these people whom were shunned were well deserved of it. People on this site by and large are good people and are willing to carry on an intelligent conversation, or debate if you like, far longer and sometimes into their own personal frustration in the pursuit of logic and reason. However there are some on this site whom feel it is a personal quest to piss us all off with pointless and nonsensical rants designed to belittle and condescend. These people do not last long. When it says open forum it is just that, but disrespect and small mindedness has found itself in poor company on this site and for me it is why I keep coming back. You seem intelligent, forthcoming and respectful. If I am not mistaken you will be well received on this site. Welcome.

Nature abhors a vacuum. "Neutral" is a power vacuum waiting to be filled. It's a noble and impractical idea. I don't see being a success with Human Nature being what it is.

Good luck.
