The front lobby officer will be tasked with the searches but a lieutenant will be on call for any assistance that the front lobby officer will need, during shift changes and so forth.
It appears that Jan 15 might be a Bureau wide implementation, as that is the start date at Milan. I hope they'll provide some information about the actual procedure before it begins.

Re: BOP Electronic Searches

I think that's the magic date Bureau wide.

I forgot to mention. Do you guys order food from the outside? I heard a rumor they might stop us from getting food from the outside because that's another way of bringing in Cigarrettes. But like I said, its just talk. If you have a post where your job is to come in and out of the building, do you have to get searched every time? lol. Example, Internal needs to make sure OP1 (booth officer) signs the daily roster. And go back into the LT's office to hand it in.

As far as I know you must clear the metal detector and x-ray everytime you enter the secured innner perimiter. I haven't heard anything about the food, but it doesn't really make sense as a staff member can already bring cigarettes into the institution. At least they can here.

Re: BOP Electronic Searches

There are a lot of details to work out. I don't see where running a pizza or Chinese Food through an x-ray is much of a problem.

But, tobacco and drug smuggling are not what the BOP is worried about. They are management tools I'm convinced. Staff who are doing that will just put it in their shoes or underwear. What the BOP wants is to prevent another Tallahassee like incident. These dildos believe that because all BOP staff can now legally carry firearms off-duty that we are going to bring guns into the prisons and shoot them up. Never mind that Florida legalized concealed carry for civilians in 1987, and half of the states did the same in 1995.

Leave it to the BOP to be a decade or more behind the times.

We start screening in a couple of weeks. What a major pain-in-the-ass. I love it when a bad apple-or-two, inherent in any career, ****s it up for the 99.9% of hard-working, decent people who just want a paycheck.

I've known a lot of "loose cannons" at the Institution where I used to work, and we just sat around(the Officers)just wondering when and where these "loose cannons" were going to bring in a weapon and go off! Kind of a "postal" type thing! Sad but true....

ALL staff must be searched? Does this include the almighty Executive Staff and Department Heads, or are they above the law as usual?

And, when exactly did it happen?????

Tell me what management used to do with employees whom they said they didn't think were stable enough to work around inmates? Where did they ALWAYS assign them to work?
