After a long dry spell (we were a week away from three years without a rookie), we have 6 or 7 now. (I lose track... I'm starting to understand the old hacks when I hired on, who wouldn't even learn your name until you finished probation.) Three were on E/W this evening.

This is a homestead joint. With 16+ years in, I'm #24 on the seniority roster. Officers with 8 years can't break out of the bottom 25.

Re: BOP Electronic Searches

I had a question pop into my pea brain last night. Does anyone know if it's safe to eat food that has passes through these x-rays? There's a big, red sign on our x-ray's "portal" that says no liquids. Why is that?

I have it on good authority from FCI El Reno that the thugs still have their "widget" blades for "cutting their vegetables" (http://forums.prisonofficer.org/atta...4&d=1200284793) but the mean ol' Guards are not even allowed to bring in a pair of nail clippers--for the safety of staff & inmates of course.

Damm! I put my gatorade and poweraid through the xray.

So I had the AW give me 30 days to get a medical card for all the metal in my leg....I had the surgery in the military like 3 yrs ago and I have no records at home for this. So I am supposed to go to the Drs and request an Xray to verify and then have the Dr issue a card. I have to pay co pays and all that...wtf? Could I get the BOP to foot my Copays because this is a work related requirment? Any ideas??

I'm a smoker, does this mean that I can't bring in my own personal pack of smokes and my lighter? Been off for a few days and the 15th is D-day at my institution. What about my car keys. I have one of those button types that unlocks my doors from across the parking lot. Am I not allowed to bring that in either?

I'd go through the VA if the injury is service related. They could probably just check your military medical records and give you one based on that. It will probably take longer than 30 days though...

At my institution you would just put all of that kind of stuff in your bag and put it through the x-ray.

I'll look into this tomorrow evening when I have time for research. There should be several avenues to approach this. Would the VA have those records, or some military data center?

As for copays, I'm sure it's going to cost more than that since it's not a medically necessary x-ray. You insurance company is going to say that your job is requiring it, your job should pay for it.

I don't see the issue anyway. If they can't clear you with a hand-held, the dicklicks can pat search you. Stop bathing before you go to work and give them permission to pat search you.

Be sure and and don't wash your uniforms too!

Well, how did it go? Any reasons to get down anterior to posterior and celebrate?

Wouldn't the "No Liquids" sign be because of the fact that it is on a type of conveyor belt and it might spill or leak and damage the equipment? That would be my guess...
