It's tough to compare to the old agreement, because some sections were moved around. Someone doing a casual reading will see an important section gone and think "uh-oh!", when it's really just moved.

Or so I've been told. I haven't had time to sit down with it myself.

Re: New Master Agreement

I have read it front to back....... and yea, things have been moved around some.....a few things added, and a cpl things completly changed. The biggest things I have seen are the addition of persons on 100% official time at the region level, plus there are a few places that the time frames have changed for submitting or responding. But other than that, it is almost word for word in most places. I have to really check on how the time frames will affect us, but they have all been extended, so it should not really affect us. Do as we have always done, and it will always be on time.

However, EVERY barganing unit member should read it. WE ( your board members ) would like to have your input/feedback BEFORE we go to Vegas and vote on it.

Re: New Master Agreement

Our delegation is meeting tomorrow to go over it (again), before leaving for Vegas.

I haven't studied it, but I've heard the new official time section is tricky. Some like it, some hate it.

I think every local should be guaranteed a minimum of 120 hours per pay period of official time (unused time gets banked), but that's just me.

We....1302 has decided to NOT ratify it! There are thing we don't agree with, as well as how it was handled. We get it less then 30 days before we are supost to ratify it?? Are are told we should "hurry" it along because we have been waiting 8 years?? no, thanks. Our membership deserves to have the chance to read it and vote on it.

then the issues within....... Cameras being used to to document your evaluation? All offical time will be at the institution unless management approves otherwise? STILL having $400 dollars for clothing??

Let see what have we gained in this new master agreement?? Well......the VP's and fair practice are on 100% official time.......and CPL got a bigger offical time bank......... WTF????

NO THANK YOU!! We'll stick with the old one.........

I am surprised that mandatory shift rotation was not done away with. Make it seniority only! If a guy with 20+ years wants to spend the rest of his time on his favorite shift,,,, why not? That senior CO gots that coming.

I still haven't got around to reading it myself. Maybe while I'm recovering from my hernia repair I will.

I certainly see no reason to hurry now. I kind of seems like someone's pushing real hard to get it done before a new president takes office... Besides, anything that Rick Miller had a hand in is guaranteed to be superior to anything negotiated later by lesser mortals.

Re: New Master Agreement

Some sections need some major overhauls...

Staff protective items for one...

Clearly laying out staff to inmate ratios.

Addressing "cost containment" by lowering numbers of staff

Yeah... It still needs work...

Work still needs to be done on the agreement. I have read it and compared my thought with our union pres. I think a more aggressive stance towards staff safety and inmate ratios needs to be addressed. We should probably look at the CDC contract for guidance. CPL will make a strong case to ratify this agrrement because of the hand shake made on the search procedures put to rest many if not all tabled items of the contract.
