The CPL negotiated the contract. In order to avoid a charge of bargaining in bad faith, it as an organization has to support it. But, we as the Membership do not have to ratify it.

I understand the motion to ratify was tabled at the convention. So for now, no contract.

The contract we have now is the best we've ever had. I'm not convinced this new one is an improvement...

Just got back from my local meeting. It was reported that the constitution bylaws require the presence of a representative from every local in order to ratify the new agreement. Since a half dozen or so were not present it couldn't be done.

We were told that a copy of it will be making the rounds to every local to be voted on, since they couldn't do it at the convention.
