Any idea on what you'll do for work if this one doesn't pan out? You said you used to be a street cop, so are you thinking about going back to that?
I was recently offered a postion as a GS-0083-05 Police Officer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. I have tentatively accepted thier offer and although it has a few drawbacks, it beats unemployment.

No, nothing like that. I wasn't even removed from the post where the incident occured.

Then that works in your favor as well! Why would they (management) keep you in a position where the incident occured if they (management) wasn't trying to get you hemmed-up?

Re: Deadweight

I would have been fine, but the incident had to be reported to Region. That is where my troubles began.

Then you're f&cked! Region is full of a bunch of morons who are only concerned about the inmates well being and not the officers. I've only heard about horror stories about how region deals with probationary officers, so this is NOT good. I still wish you the best of luck and hope you're the first positive story when it comes to region and probationary officers. What's your Warden's opinion about you? Regardless of region's decision, if you're not in good with the Warden and management you can still be let go, yet, the union may be able to win you a settlement if that happens.

Re: Deadweight

I have had almost every Lieutenant and many senior officers speak well of me to the Warden and as far as I can tell the Warden has been satisfied with my performance.

That looks very positive. Usually when they want to fire you it's because they claim that they have lost confidence in your ability to perform your duties. That clearly isn't the case here.
