My president did. Maybe I'll actually see him in the next few weeks and find out what happened.

Shawn, I think you should start a thread comparing TDCJ to the BOP.

We usually have people that go up there and I heard that we had one of union guys go up. However, us peasants aren't privy to such top secret information.

That's BS. Demand an accounting. If they resist, drop out. The union has no business being as unresponsive as the agency. The final means for influencing them is through your dues.

I can't believe that someone would want to keep legislative issues secret. That defeats the purpose. Are these people just a clique of incompetents using the union as their private sorority maybe?

They are getting better. However, it has been a long time coming. In addition, it isnt only the union, they are acctually
trying to be more forward and open. However, it is just the general attitude of the whole place to be top secret on everything. It is ust about impossible to know what is going on from shift to shift in that place.

Ok, wanted to add this. I have to take back what I said, as I came back from my days off and had received an email. This year they came out and gave us a full report on the trip to washington. So, maybe things are getting better, and I think they are finding that many of us are getting more involved due to the information sharing and communication. For a long time most of us had no idea what was even going on due to the secret squirel attitude. However, that is starting to change.

Re: Legislative Week In D.C.

Next week when I get out of control and have time to post a full report, I will give everyone heads up. I love sharing information with everyone. We need to get out of this mentality of not sharing. We can only get stronger by comunicating better. I don't handle national e board issues, I work directly with Phil Glover. He is my boss, so to speak. He is the National Legislative Coordinator. If I knew how to cut and paste, I could really fill everyone in. I'll get Kevin Craig to teach me. Then I will start a thread just on Legislative issues. Post pictures and so on. I really hate computers, unless I am surfing ebay or something. By the way OKI, I can vouch that Donnie did behave himself. We had lunch a couple of days at the Billy Goat Tavern.

At least I didn't have to watch after Sam Craven this time
